Style-Ography: Tell us a little about your history and purpose in life. What do you do?

Jessica: I was born in Washington, DC and raised there, just outside of the city in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Going through my life’s journey I learned to describe myself as creative, a dancer, fitness professional and health/wellness coach. I have a dance background and began training professionally when I was accepted into the dance program at Suitland High School Center for the Visual and Performing Arts during my sophomore year. Upon graduation I attended Temple University where I majored in Dance and minored in Latin American Studies. At Temple, I was exposed to many wonderful opportunities artistically, scholarly, and socially. I studied abroad in Brazil and Mexico, pledged to the illustrious sorority of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., and was awarded several grants and nominations. Dance was a gateway that led me to many new passions and discoveries, the most significant was in health and wellness. Throughout my journey of performing in NYC, I realized the importance of wellness and self-care. I have been fortunate enough to inspire and instruct others at prominent boutique fitness studios such as Flywheel Sports, The Bari Studio, and Equinox. My love and passion for fitness and wellness led to the inception of my lifestyle brand and wellness platform, “WellBody.WellSoul”.

Wellbody.Wellsoul is a platform and brand that aims to provide access and inspire individuals to be the best version of themselves through fitness, nutrition and self-care. In addition to jump starting my own business, I am currently a part-time lecturer at Rutgers University where I am also continuing my studies and completing my MFA in dance. My purpose in life is to inspire, uplift, be an example, to help and encourage, provide access, resources, and motivation through my experiences, trials, and triumphs.

Style-Ography: Briefly describe your journey to getting connected to your life’s purpose.

Jessica: Getting in touch and clear about my life’s purpose came over the course of years throughout high school up until this very moment. It has required accountability, honesty, self-love, and the belief in myself. I finally gave myself the permission and rest assurance that I am worthy enough to live a passionate, fulfilled, creative life where I boldly manifest and declare my dreams, visions, and aspirations. When I was fourteen years old my mother passed away from a brain aneurysm, which had a profound effect on my life. Her absence; her legacy has been the driving force behind my accomplishments thus far and her memory will continue to push me forward always.

Style-Ography: What advice would you give to a group of young teen girls who’s pursuing a dream or their purpose?

Jessica: Trust your process. Don’t compare your progress or journey with others. Don’t let fear or self-doubt cripple you. Trust your gut. Believe in your power. Your vision/goal/aspirations are valid, you are worthy, and deserving! Breathe life into them, declare your intentions with conviction, project the highest grandest vision for your life and take consistent ACTION to make it happen. Anything you can imagine is real!

Style-Ography: What would be the greatest health tip and lifestyle advice that you would like people to know?

Jessica: The greatest health tip or advice I could offer would be to eat plenty of fresh whole foods in their purest form as often as possible. Your body is your temple and is a sacred vessel that must be properly cared for. Always inquire about the food you put into your body; check the ingredients, read food labels, and educate yourself. Lastly, I would say and stress that self-care is a divine responsibility so put yourself first and take care.

Style-Ography: Is there anything important you would like to share with us and for us to share with our audience?

Jessica: Mantra and motto I live by…

Make {Create/Envision} It {A Tangible Thing} Happen {Action}

I will be performing with the theatrical production, The Clothesline Muse. (theclothelinemuse.com)
