Our May Feature Marquaila Bradley

Let's take a look at our May feature, Marquaila Bradley.

What makes you pop? Read below to learn about the CEO of "Pop Films" and how she connected to purpose in her life

Here’s a question from our very own CEO LaQuelle Mills:

“Who is Marquaila Bradley and how did you find purpose in your life”?

Marquaila means a “stubborn”, “versatile”, “compassionate” ball of creativity… in someone’s dictionary. The best thing I love about myself is that I am introverted and open-minded simultaneously.

When I’m not producing shows in the top 10 news market at WSB-Channel 2 Action News in Atlanta, I am cultivating my company, POPFilms.

Born to teen parents, I saw firsthand the village it took to mold me. My mom had me when she was just 15. I remember when she went off to FAMU, my auntie would do my ponytails and walk me to school. On Fridays, my teen dad would ride his bike to my Grandma’s and sacrifice his whole check for a Friday night dinner at McDonald’s. My entire family added those types of details to my life. When I went to live with my mom in Tallahassee, I was a first-grade college student. I believe her professors who would welcome me on the front row, would whisper life into my ears.

As a news producer, I see all the stories that impact my community. I want to put them on the big screen so one day, things will change. I was born with the responsibility and courage to serve as a medium for my peers. I was created to thrive. Our victory was always Part of the Plan. (POP Films)

Style-Ography: Briefly describe your journey to getting connected to your life’s purpose.

I am a producer in the booth and bona fide risk taker in life. A year ago, I set out on a journey 481 miles north of St. Petersburg. I hopped in my car with no job and no housing… and headed for Atlanta, to pursue film. I had $0.31. I thank God, FAMU and my family for my talent, skill and confidence to be able to birth opportunities in less than two weeks. I hustle every day to make my mark in the film industry as a screenwriter and director.

Style-Ography: What advice would you give to a group of young teen girls who’s pursuing a dream or their purpose?

My advice to young teen girls is to recognize your God-given gift; use it every chance you get; show your work as much as you can; and find a mentor! I don’t have a mentor, but I need one.

Style-Ography: When people see Pop Films, what would you want them to see or get from what you do?

When people hear, and see the stories told by POPFilms, I want them to realize that in all the victories, defeats, wails and uncontrollable laughing sessions... we were already approved when we were in the womb. Doesn’t matter if you had a child at 15 or you were that child… Our prosperity and peace were always Part of the Plan. (POP Films)

Style-Ography: Is there anything important that you would like to share with us and for us to share with our audience?

I’m currently building my website that will serve as another medium to view my work. You can also reach out to me via the social handles and email listed below.
