Our September Feature Dr. Danielle Watson

Style-Ography: Tell us a little about your history and purpose in life. What do you do?

Danielle: As a little girl I dreamed of becoming a Physician. I remember pretending that I was running a full clinic, my dolls were my patients and and they had injuries ranging from common colds to broken elbows. Seeing my mom several times place the stethoscope to a patient’s chest, when doing check-ups on my dolls, I just mimicked her pretending that I knew exactly what I was doing.

My mom was a nurse, so Medicine automatically lived in me. I laugh, because I’m convinced that “Doc Mcstuffin” was created in my image.Being that I always had a passion to be a Physician, I never questioned my purpose in life. Some people search years and years and never find their purpose, but I was lucky enough that God placed the love of medicine in my heart. When I was in elementary school, I decided that I would go to Medical School and I did just that. I went to Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine to become a Foot and Ankle Surgeon. I treat pathologies of the lower extremity ranging from ankle fractures to Achilles tendon ruptures to surgically correcting bunion and hammertoes. I specialized in limb salvage, pediatrics, sports medicine and trauma.I am originally from Tampa, Florida and I currently reside in Powder Springs, GA, where I am in the process of opening my own practice.

Style-Ography: Briefly describe your journey to getting connected to your life’s purpose.

Danielle: Becoming a physician was a true test of Faith.I owe my success to my father in Heaven, who lead me every step of the way. Medical school and Residency was one of the hardest times of my life, but it taught me so much. Going through the journey of obtaining my degree I learned that a physician must not only love with his/her heart, but listen with his/her heart too. When I was in medical school, I decided that I was opening my own practice after I graduated. I knew that patients would flood my office, because of my love for Christ and my flamboyant personality. At the end of residency, I battled with self-doubt and was scared to take a leap of faith, so I took a traditional route and went to work for a private practice in Maryland. This was absolutely the worse decision of my life.I was so unhappy and cried almost every day, because their ethics were totally different from mines. I was a flower in a room full of weeds…Literally! When God gives you a true gift, you will want to use it to make an impact on anyone who comes in contact with you.I wasn’t allowed to use my gift in the way God intended me to use it working for this company and it literally drove me insane. At the end of year one, the company and I parted ways. At this point, I knew I had to take a leap of faith and step out on my own. I did exactly that and every step of the way God has ordered my foot steps. My best friend and I are opening our very own practice in Douglasville, GA. I am so excited!!!!!

Style-Ography: What advice would you give to a group of young teen girls who’s pursuing a dream or their purpose?

Danielle: Taking a leap of faith is the only way you will succeed at anything in life. To be totally dependent on God is absolutely the only way. Without him, you are nothing! With him, you are everything!

Style-Ography: Is there anything important that you would like to share with us and for us to share with our audience?

Danielle: Fall Grand opening – Accepting appointments in September
